69 Commentary Can chiropractic survive its chimerical nature? " The only way to avoid the slippery slope is to stay off the slope ". If we were to compare the profession of chiropractic to creatures of legend, in its early days chiropractic was like a hydra, whose practitioners possessed a 'body' of core beliefs and practice patterns but a rather contentious leadership , one with many 'heads'. Although there were different personalities vying for control and influence (the Palmers, Carver, Howard and many others), the practice of chiropractic then was probably not as variable as it is today. Later on, chiropractic evolved into something more like a chimera, a mythical creature with the head of a lion, the body of a goat and the tail of a serpent-diversity at its most extreme. By necessity, amidst its war with organized medicine, it had become one profession, but protracted technique civil wars had divided the body chiropractic into a slapped together beast, although there are some indicators that chiropractors do share some similar beliefs and practice activities. 1,2 That said, we (and

High-resolution melting analysis for a reliable and two-step scanning of mutations in the tyrosine kinase domain of the chimerical bcr-abl gene.

For relevant imatinib therapy against Philadelphia (Ph)-positive leukemias, it is essential to monitor mutations in the chimerical bcr-abl tyrosine kinase domain (TKD). However, there is no universally acceptable consensus on how to efficiently identify mutations in the target TKD. Recently, high-resolution melting (HRM) technology was developed, which allows gene scanning using an inexpensive ...

Origin of new genes and source for N-terminal domain of the chimerical gene, jingwei, in Drosophila.

This paper deals with a general question posed by the origin of new processed chimerical genes: when a new retrosequence inserts into a new genome position, how does it become activated and acquire novel protein function by recruiting new functional domains and regulatory elements? Jingwei (jgw), a newly evolved functional gene with a chimerical structure in Drosophila, provides an opportunity ...

Involvement of phage ϕ29 DNA polymerase and terminal protein subdomains in conferring specificity during initiation of protein-primed DNA replication

To initiate phi29 DNA replication, the DNA polymerase has to form a complex with the homologous primer terminal protein (TP) that further recognizes the replication origins of the homologous TP-DNA placed at both ends of the linear genome. By means of chimerical proteins, constructed by swapping the priming domain of the related phi29 and GA-1 TPs, we show that DNA polymerase can form catalytic...

Design and Construction of ctxB-gfp-stxB Gene Cassette and Investigation of Its Expression in E. coli Bl21 (DE3)

Background & Objective: In order to enhance the expression of soluble proteins and facilitate their purification and development of multi-functional polypeptide , chimerical recombinant proteins have been invented . The purpose of this study was to construct ctxB-gfp-stxB gene cassette to measure the uptake and excretion of chimerical antigen in future studies.   Materials & Methods: After prep...
